Kraken is fully sealed, closed emitter dot sight optimized for defensive and law enforcement use on pistol and long gun applications. Compared to open emitter reflex sights, sealed systems like Kraken are tougher and easier to keep clean and functional in extreme conditions such as immersion in water or mud. Kraken uses a CR2032 3V battery which is included in the box but not pre-inserted into the optic. Turn the battery cover counter-clockwise to remove it. Insert the battery with the “+” side facing away from the scope body. Turn the battery cover clockwise to close it. Tighten until snug and no farther, there is no need to torque down on a battery. Confirm that the optic powers on by pressing the brightness UP button. Regardless of how often you are using Kraken, we recommend you replace your battery annually. Press the brightness UP “? ” button to power on. Hold the brightness DOWN “? “button for 3 seconds to manually power off. When the sight is powered back on it will automatically return to the previous brightness level. Kraken is equipped with 10 brightness settings. The two lowest settings are passive aiming compatible with night vision devices. Use the brightness UP”? ” and brightness DOWN “? ” buttons to adjust brightness level. When using low brightness settings ensure sufficient contrast against thetarget. Medium brightness settings are ideal for indoor shooting ranges. The highest two brightness settings are daylight bright and should only be usedin very bright conditions, Using these settings in darker conditions will cause unwanted glare and reticle bloom. After approximately four minutes without sensing movement, Kraken will shut off illumination to save battery life. While “asleep” the battery will draw no power. As soon as movement resumes, the optic will immediately “wake” and resume its previous brightness level. Kraken does not incorporate a timed fully-shutdown feature that requires the user to press a button to wake. Shake’N Wake is seamless and intended to be unobtrusive to the user. Itis not a mode that can be activated and deactivated, it is hard wired into the function of the optic. Shake’N Wake is very sensitive to movement. While wearing a pistol with Kraken mounted, even the body movement of normal breathing is sufficient to keep the optic “awake” and drawing battery power. Kraken must be absolutely still for four minutes before the Shake’N Wake system will shutoff illumination. Closed emitter systems like Kraken cannot mount directly to optic footprints featuring vertical screws to clamp the scope body in place. Because Kraken’s body is completely sealed and nitrogen purged, it features two horizontal screws underneath clamping from the side. These two screws travel through two recoil lugs aligning with slots cut in Kraken’s adapter plates. The twin recoil lug arrangement reduces screw stress on reciprocating pistol slides compared to open emitter reflex optics. Swampfox recommends applying blue threadlocker to all Kraken system screws and torquing them to 10-15 inch pounds. Attach the adapter plateto the optic footprint with the included screws, then attach Kraken to theadapter plate. M3.5, for use with the RMR footprint adapter on Rebel Riser and Rebel Offset mounts. Kraken features a 3 MOA dot reticle. Krakens with a red emitter will feature a ruby red coating on the interior lens. Krakens with a green emitter will feature a silver coating on the same lens. One Minute of Angle is equivalent to approximately 1 at 100 yards, or. 75 at 75 yards. 50 at 50 yards, etc. Kraken is designed to be parallax free at 33 yards. At distances closer than 33 yards, parallax error is very minimal and will not lead to appreciable point of impact shift. At distances past 100 yards, some parallax will be observed, When using your sight at close range, keep in mind that the entire window is available for aiming. Lf you can perceive the reticle anywhere in the window, you can use it as a point of aim. For shooting past 100 yards, keeping the reticle more centered in the window will result in more consistent hits on target. Before cleaning your optic lens, make sure to blow away any dust or grit on the lens to prevent the lens from being scratched while cleaning. Always use a soft cloth when cleaning your lens.
